Town of Oyster Bay Chabad invites all to celebrate the holiday of Purim, the Jewish festival which commemorates the miraculous salvation of the Jewish Nation from a plot for total annihilation, plotted by the evil minister Haman.
Ever since that miraculous day which took place on the Hebrew date of the 14th of Adar, Jews worldwide celebrate with a joyous feast, dress in costume,trade gifts of food and give charity to the poor. They also follow the tradition of eating a triangular filled cookie know as Hamantashen to commemorate the hat of Haman, which was triangular.
The Purim Celebreation, will take place on Sunday, March 16 @ 12:30 PM at the Thompson Middle School, 98 Ann Dr, Syosset, NY 11791 beginning with a Multi Media Megillah reading followed by a masquerade (kids are requested to come in costume if they wish) .
The highlight of the celebration, the grand finale will be the most thrilling, awesome and eye popping "Jabali Acrobats" show!
The Jacabi African Acrobats- the best in African entertainment, will be performing at this years annual TOB Chabad Purim family celebration. Featuring six talented acrobats from Kenya, East Africa , the performers will captivate and charm the audience with their incredible and stunning feats! Also featured at the event are a Purim "mishloach manot" exchange (traditional goody filled bakets), Purim costume masquerade - win prizes, multi media "megillah" reading, "hamantashen" , mask making, graggers and more.
