Woodbury, NY. Dec. 9 2012 - Free. All are invited to attend the annual TOB Chabad Chanukah celebration, a "sold out " yearly family event, starring the astounding feats of master Chinese Acrobat Xiao Di - back by popular demand . Young and old will be amazed and delighted!
Featuring music, latkes, pizza lots of fun crafts and activities for the family, celebrating the joy of Chanukah will be an experience like none other. Kids and the young at heart will have fun filling and topping their own doughnuts, sand and velvet art, design your own jewelry, Lego menorah building contest and more! The highlight of the experience will be the Grand Menorah lighting near Shoprite, at 6:50 PM, where a great prize will be raffled off for all attendees of the lighting ceremony.
Please note, new for this year, we will be offering two time slots in order to allow for more space for a more enjoyable experience. The time slots are: 5:15 - 7 PM or 5:45 to 7:30 PM. We will also have a sturdier tent which should hold up in any weather, G‑d willing.
Due to record "sold out "attendance, it is recommended to RSVP early - don't get left out in the "cold". Program is free, however, only online RSVP's will be admitted - no exception.
Born in Shanghai, China Mr. Yang Xiao Di became an apprentice acrobat with the Pan Ying family, performing at the Shanghai Big World Entertainment Center. He rapidly excelled at a number of Chinese acrobatic genres (handstands, headstands and balancing skills), juggling (diabolo, Chinese sticks, spinning plate, boomerangs and flying tridents).
In 1983, Mr. Yang was hired by the government of Australia to work as acrobatic coach and teacher, training circus artists for Australia's Flying Fruit Fly Circus and Circus Oz. In 1985 he toured Europe starring in Switzerland's world-famous Circus Knie, and in 1986-87 toured Australia and New Zealand starring in the Flying Fruit Fly and Oz Circuses.
Xiao Di also performed with the Nanjing Troupe joining forces with New York's Big Apple Circus, touring the U.S. — including Lincoln Center — in a program titled "East Meets West: The Big Apple Circus Meets The Monkey King." Xiao Di was the centerpiece of the program, playing the "Monkey King." a traditional clown-like character from Chinese Opera.
