Talmud 101 with Dr Bill Jacobowitz
Jul 6, 2008 - 9:15 am
This fascinating intellectual voyage navigates the “Sea of the Talmud.” It will sharpen your wits and stimulate your analytic skills like nothing else! Enjoy the lively discussion that accompanies Talmudic study, and relish grappling with the famous logic that has formed the core of Jewish scholarship for nearly 2000 years. We are currently studying the text of Tractate Berachot, which traces prayer and other basic Jewish observances back to their biblical sources and origins.
Living Torah Class
Jul 11, 2008
Every Friday evening, 7:00 P.M. (half hour preceding Friday Night Services).
Now you can keep up with the times by participating in the dynamic weekly Parsha Class By Joe Slater (the weekly Torah Portion, which is read in the synagogue on Saturday mornings).
Each class begins with an overview of the portion of the week, followed by its relevance to our lives, using the writings of some of the great biblical commentators from antiquity to the modern era. Our discussions help us to understand the creator’s prescription for a good life, as well as a key historic time line of the Jewish people and the world. Prior experience with Torah study is not required.
